Tucked away in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand Becs has carved out an idyllic life for herself. Teaching art workshops to young and old in her studio, Ventana, she lives a life ruled by creating. Painting, crafting, learning and teaching.
With her darling partner, Brent, a man who seems to actually emanate sunshine- the greatest supporter in all her endeavours. And their spectacular daughter, Maeve- or Potato, as they call her.
Bec’s greatest ambition is to make art accessible to all! To have every person understand and believe that they are artists, they can create art, and what they create is brilliant and so special! To make sure we don’t compare ourselves, and simply enjoy the pure joy in the processes of art.
In her art studio, the rules are :
1. Be kind to yourself and kind to others.
2. Perfection is not the goal.
Rules she tries to live by! This is Becs’ first time illustrating a kid’s book- and after initially saying, “I don’t do characters…” She proved herself wrong and is thrilled about it! Becs hopes this book brings joy to all kiddos, and their grown ups, and we all celebrate our differences and strengths- whatever they may be!
